Why is it important to have a routine for oily skin?
Cats, known for their affinity for cleanliness, can find discomfort in having their fur covered by oily coat, blackheads, sometimes leading to secondary itchiness, significantly impacting their quality of life. Managing such signs requires sometimes consistent care due to various, sometimes uncontrollable, causes. Here are some reasons why a routine is important for cats with oily skin:
Ensures Well-being: Addressing oiliness and blackheads promotes cleanliness, alleviating discomfort and potential itching, contributing to a happier and healthier pet. A well-designed routine helpsmaintain the cat'scomfort.
Prevents Complications: Regular care allows for monitoring skin health, preventing potential complications such as infections that are common when it comes to skin oiliness, and facilitating prompt medical attention.
Reinforces the Bond: Grooming sessions with your cat go beyond physical care, fostering positive interactions and strengthening the bond between you and your feline friend. These moments serve as opportunities for bonding, trust-building, and shared enjoyment, enhancing the emotional connection between you and your cat.
What to use for oily skin?

In addressing oily skin concerns in cats, apart from looking for the cause of this disorder, it is crucial to regulate skin greasiness for enhanced comfort. Anti-seborrheic topical products aim to control sebum production and mitigate unpleasant odors.
Cats with greasy seborrhea require gentle degreasing while maintaining proper skin hydration. Care must be taken to avoid excessive removal of grease, which can potentially damage the epidermis and disrupt epidermal hydration. The choice of the product is vital in this regard.
DOUXO® S3 SEB, featuring the natural extract Seboliance, is tailored to regulate sebum production, prevent flake formation, and inhibit yeast overgrowth common in seborrheic conditions. Ophytrium, ensures proper skin hydration, soothes itchiness, and hinders the adhesion of potentially harmful bacteria.
DOUXO® S3 SEB products effectively reduce excess sebum, unpleasant odours, and dandruff in cats, strengthening the skin barrier and preventing the overgrowth of microorganisms. Additionally, these products contribute to restructuring the barrier, offering protection against external aggressions for your feline companion.
What can be a recommended routine for oily skin?
DOUXO® S3 teams developed a specific patented routine for oily skin in cats, requiring 0 to few shampoos.
For whole body application, we recommend ideally to bathe the cat once with DOUXO® S3 SEB Shampoo, to remove dirt, flakes. mechanically and then use DOUXO® S3 SEB Mousse every 2-3 daysfor 3 weeks. This can be repeated long-term if necessary.
The mousse is complementary of the shampoo, bringing the ingredients for a long-lasting contact. Even though most cats may not enjoy the idea of frequent bathing, we have put together some tips to help you make this as non-stressful as possible - and maybe even an enjoyable experience. If your cat isreally reluctant to bath, the first shampoo can be replaced with a mousse. For more localised issue, you can do the full care with the mousse.
This protocol has been clinically proven and recommended by vets throughout the world.
